Transactional Analysis Coaching

Seeking Rational Conversations

It never fails. You are talking to someone in a reasonable and rational manner; and, before long, they are either acting like a child or talking down to you like a disappointed parent.

It can be infuriating. Even worse, you fall for it! You now start acting in a childish way yourself by being stubborn, or demanding, or needy.

Or maybe you now take on the parent role to a friend or colleague who is upset or frustrated.

Can’t you just have adult conversations with other adults?

Difficult People

Why are some people so difficult?

If you have ever found yourself asking this question, you are not alone. Sometimes you are getting along great with someone, and then the next moment you are completely out of sync with them.

People can act childish and demanding, supportive and nurturing, angry and attacking, and then reasonable and logical.

There is a reason why this happens, and now you can respond in a way that maintains good relations with everyone in your life.

Wrong Responses

I will help you understand why and how people act in ways that seem irrational and self-destructive. Plus, you will learn how to better relate to them and avoid acting in childish or domineering ways yourself.

When we think and act from the “child” part of ourselves, we often make bad choices, over-react, get too emotional, and think and act in harmful ways.

When we think and act from the “parent” part of ourselves, we can be too demanding, critical, and judgmental. This inhibits us – what we believe and how we behave.

Understanding Fosters Right Response

Understanding these behaviors or “transactions” can help improve our external relations with other people and events, as well as with our own internal motivations, desires, thoughts, and feelings.

The result is improved connections with people, more positive emotions, and better choices.

Improving Interpersonal Interactions

Transactional analysis helps identify interpersonal interactions that might be negative or harmful and provides you with the knowledge to negotiate around them and have better relationships with people.

This 20-week program will give you the knowledge, skills, and practice opportunities to be an expert in understanding human behaviors and how to deal with people at all levels, including yourself!

Teenagers Welcome

Because teenagers don’t always understand why they and others act the ways that they do, I offer an adolescent program that helps young people be aware of their own behaviors and interpersonal relationships, as well as the motivations for other people’s actions.

Knowledge is power. The more your child knows about who they are and why they do the things they do, the better prepared they will be for adulthood.
